Imagine the feeling of floating on a cloud effortlessly while being supported by a liquefied bed of minerals blended to produce the most profound relaxation experience you’ve ever felt. So powerful that it lasts for days.
What is float therapy?
Float therapy includes floating in a lightless, soundproof tank filled with salt water at body temperature. The float tanks are designed to help the user decrease all their senses -- light, sound, and feeling -- helping the user acheieve a state of meditation and relaxation. In the absence of gravity, stress and tension lift from your body and mind.
Floating can assist with both physical and mentail ailments that often challenge western medicine. The overall health benefits include:
- Calms the analytical and worrisome side of the brain
- Increases endorphins in bloodstream
- Decreases stress hormones in blood stream such as adrenaline and cortisol
- Increases cardiovascular efficiency due to dilation of blood vessels
- Increases nutrient deliver
- Decreases muscles tension, BP, HR and oxygen consumption
In order to keep you afloat, float tanks are filled with thousands of pounds of Epsom Salt. Epson salt is comprised of magnesium, sulfate, and other healthy minerals. Magnesium helps regulate the activity of over 325 enzymes, reduces pain and inflammation, and plays a key role in nerve and muscle function. Sulfates assist in the assimilation of nutrients, help to flush toxins and ease migraine headaches.
Float therapy has been proven to help those who suffer from anxiety and or depression.
Completely free from external stimulation, the brain is able to synchronize its two hemispheres. At this point, the mind and body go into a deep state of relaxation, and the brain begins to release theta waves as if in a deep state of meditation. With consistent use over time, floaters will notice their anxiety or depression symptoms diminish.
In one study, 32 patients were diagnosed with stress-related muscular pain, and 16 of the participants also received a second diagnosis of burnout depression. Patients were treated with flotation and after 6 weeks they exhibited lowered blood pressure, reduced pain, anxiety, depression, stress and negative affectivity, as well as increased optimism, energy and positive affectivity (Department of Psychology, Karlstad University, Sweden. 2005).
How to overcome float tank claustrophobia and enhance your float experience
Many people are hesitant to try floating because of claustrophobia or have anxiety about the whole sensory reduction experience.
Relaxation exercises are an improtant part of float therapy, including taking slow deep breaths, meditating, and doing muscle relaxing exercises. Also, taking stress and anxiety relieving herbal supplements like 1Hour Break® before floating can quickly relieve float anxiety or claustrophobia and give you an enhanced float therapy experience.
Taking 1Hour Break® to enhance your float experience or prevent float therapy-induced anxiety is simple. Before floating, spray 5 sprays (about 1ml) of 1Hour Break® beneath your tongue, wait ten seconds, and then swallow. Because 1Hour Break® is absorbed sublingually, it bypasses the digestive system, so the effects are felt almost immediately. Kava kava, sourced from the South Pacific, is the main ingredient in 1Hour Break®. It works by binding onto various receptors in the amygdala that regulate feelings of fear and anxiety, and in turn promotes calmness, relaxation, and a sense of well-being. It’s like getting a big hug from Mother Nature herself.
1Hour Break® and float therapy is simply the perfect all-natural combination – a no-brainer, in fact. Imagine experiencing a strong, uplifting, clear-headed inner relaxation without the anxious side effects. You’ll experience only the positive feelings of an enhanced float therapy session and none of the negative.
